In earning the male award, Klaiber posted a 3.13 ERA on the mound while reaching base safely in eight of his team’s 10 games in March.

A Roanoke native, Klaiber was tabbed MEC Pitcher of the Week following his complete game four-hit performance in the Cavaliers non-conference victory over Bluefield State. The senior ended the game in extra innings by connecting on a game-winning three-run homer.

This season, Klaiber leads UVa-Wise in ERA (2.79), innings pitched (42) and strikeouts (37). At the plate he has lined nine extra-base hits while tying for the team lead in home runs (3).

The right-hander has gone at least six innings in each of his last four starts while allowing just five walks over his last 23 innings pitched.

His eight starts and 16 strikeouts looking leads the MEC, he also ranks top five in the conference in innings pitched (2nd), strikeouts (2nd), ERA (5th) and batting average against (5th).
