Erika McLaughlin earned the Women’s Cavalier of the Month honor after posting a .588 batting average through the first five games of the season, helping UVa-Wise to an undefeated 5-0 record in February. The Haymarket, Virginia (Battlefield H.S.), native has recorded 10 hits in 17 at bats, including three doubles and a triple. McLaughlin tallied seven RBI in the last three games alone and has scored five runs this season. In the Cavs 6-4 win over Kutztown University this past Friday, McLaughlin had three RBI, a triple and a double.
The senior owns a .882 slugging percentage and a .632 on base percentage with 15 total bases recorded in the first five games. McLaughlin has put out 13 and assisted on 14 others, with only one error for a .964 fielding mark.
Most recently, McLaughlin was named Mountain East Conference Softball Player of the Week in the league’s first weekly award this season for her performance at Tusculum College’s Pioneer Classic the final weekend of February.
