Day, a native of Buckhorn, Kentucky (Buckhorn H.S.), is having a standout season in his final year as a Cavalier, averaging 21.1 points per game and 10.4 rebounds per game. The forward has had many standout performance over the last two months, including a career night on Jan. 6 at Shepherd University. Day recorded a career-high 35 points on a career-high 12 field goals made, including going 8-for-11 on three-pointers. His eight shots made from distance was only one shy of the school record for three-pointers made in a game by one player.

The senior has scored in double figures for nine straight games in the month of January and has done so in 18 of the 20 games played this season. Day registered his 10th double-double of the season Thursday night at home against Shepherd University with 29 points and 13 rebounds, currently he is top-10 nationally in double-doubles this year. He finishes up the month third in the Mountain East Conference in rebounding, sixth in scoring and 10th in free-throw percentage (78.9 percent).

Back on Dec. 20, Day helped lead the Cavs to a big, upset win over then 14th-ranked King University (100-87) in the Prior Center. For his 28 point, 19 rebound performance against King, Day was named MEC Co-Player of the Week as he averaged 28 points per game and 15.5 rebounds per game for the week. With his 29 point outing against Shepherd this past Thursday, Day moved into the top 10 on UVa-Wise’s all-time scoring list. He sits at No. 10 on the list with 1,390 career points.
