WISE – UVA Wise opened up South Atlantic Conference play with a weekend series win as they captured two of three games from Emory & Henry. The Wasps sneaked out the 11-10 win Friday evening before the Highland Cavaliers took the series with 17-10 and 7-0 wins on Saturday.

GAME 1 – UVA Wise 10, E&H 11
- In the first game on Friday, UVA Wise fell to Emory & Henry in a closely contested matchup, with a final score of 11-10. Despite hitting two home runs, the Cavaliers could not overcome the Wasps' 17-hit performance. The game began strongly for UVA Wise, with Jak Smith delivering a three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning, bringing in
Bernard Creque and
Luke Johnson for an early 3-1 lead.
- The fourth inning saw Johnson hit a two-run homer, scoring
Carter Babb, which closed the gap to 6-5, with the Wasps holding a slim lead. A pivotal moment occurred in the sixth inning when
Tanner Jones tripled down the right field line, clearing the bases and bringing in three runs to help regain the lead. A subsequent wild pitch allowed Jones to score, but despite a late run in the eighth inning from Babb's sacrifice fly, the Cavaliers concluded the game trailing by one run.

Houston Sarvis pitched 3 2/3 innings, allowing six earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts.
Zach Bohn followed with one inning of relief, conceding one earned run.
Andrew Binns-Loveman pitched 1 1/3 innings, yielding four earned runs, while

GAME 2 – UVA Wise 17, E&H 10
- In the opening game on Saturday, UVA Wise bounced back, securing a 17-10 victory over Emory & Henry. The Cavaliers amassed 21 hits and capitalized on 11 walks. After initially trailing 3-1 in the first inning, UVA Wise surged ahead in the fourth with a five-run rally, highlighted by
Morgan Miller's two-RBI single.
Joshua Morgan's two-RBI single in the fifth extended the lead, while the seventh inning proved pivotal as the Cavs piled on seven runs, including a two-run homer from
Jake Smith.

Bo Trantham pitched four innings, allowing eight hits and six runs, while
Sawyer Patrick pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief.
Ryan Whitson delivered 2 2/3 scoreless innings for his second win of the season, striking out four batters.

Jaden Ruehling contributed a two-run homer, and
Jake Smith followed with a two-run homer in the third inning, helping to push the lead to 6-0.

Eli Reece delivered a complete-game shutout over seven innings, allowing just three hits and striking out six batters. Smith led the offensive charge with two hits and two RBIs, while Ruehling contributed with a home run. The Cavaliers' pitching and defense left nine Wasps' runners stranded throughout the game.
