NEWBERRY, SC – The UVA Wise baseball team grabbed the 7-6 win in the final game of a South Atlantic Conference series against Newberry Saturday afternoon, but two wins by the Wolves on Friday gave them the series win over the Highland Cavaliers.

GAME 1 – Newberry 15, UVA Wise 2 – 7 innings
- In game one, UVA Wise struggled defensively, allowing Newberry to score heavily. The Wolves opened the scoring in the second inning with a solo home run by Logan Busenlehner, followed by an RBI single from Jomar Lugo, making it 2-0.
- The Cavaliers got on the board in the third inning with a solo home run by
Bernard Creque.
- However, Newberry responded with a five-run rally that included Finn McLaughlin's home run, extending their lead to 7-1. They continued to dominate, adding six more runs in the fourth inning and two in the fifth, concluding the game with a final score of Newberry 15, UVA Wise 2.

Bo Trantham pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing 12 earned runs on 11 hits, while
Julius Sellars and
Jake DeNeef provided relief efforts.
Bernard Creque led the Cavalier offense with two hits and two RBI.
GAME 2 – Newberry 9, UVA Wise 1
Game two saw the Cavaliers manage only four hits against Newberry's strong pitching, falling 9-1. The pivotal third inning featured Newberry scoring five runs, starting with a single by Cooper Raines and propelled by a series of errors and a wild pitch.
- UVA Wise's only run came in the sixth inning when
Jaden Ruehling brought home
Luke Johnson.

Anthony Michaelis and
Andrew Binns-Loveman contributed in relief.

GAME 3 – UVA Wise 7, Newberry 6
- In Game 3, the Cavaliers turned the tide with a 7-6 win. They secured an early lead with a three-RBI double from
Dane Frellick in the first inning, followed by a run in the second to make it 5-0.
- Newberry fought back, narrowing the gap with a triple and a sacrifice fly in the third and a solo home run in the fifth. The Wolves continued to chip away, scoring two runs in the sixth, bringing the score to 6-5.
- The Cavaliers added another run in the eighth, but Newberry responded with a run of their own on a wild pitch. The game ended with the Cavaliers clinching a hard-fought 7-6 victory.
Mason McAlarnis started on the mound, with
Ryan Whitson earning a save after 3 2/3 innings of relief.
Jaden Ruehling had a standout performance with four runs and three hits, while Frellick contributed four RBIs.
