HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concord took a 4-2 lead after the first inning, highlighted by a two-run homer from
Jake Smith for UVA Wise. The home team responded in the second inning, scoring four runs.
Carter Babb homered to center, followed by a solo homer from Smith, his second of the game, giving the Cavs a 6-4 lead after two innings.
- After Concord tied the game at 6-6 in the top of the third, UVA Wise added four more runs in the fifth inning. The inning was marked by a crucial two-RBI single from
Joshua Morgan, pushing the home team ahead 10-7. The Mountain Lions managed to score one run in the sixth, but the Cavs extended their lead with three runs in the seventh, making it 13-8.
- The eighth inning saw the Highland Cavaliers solidifying their lead with another five runs. Tanner Jones tripled down the right-field line, driving in two runs, followed by an RBI single from
Jacob Boyle. This scoring burst concluded the offensive showcase with an 18-8 lead. UVA Wise's pitching staff held the Mountain Lions scoreless in the final innings to secure the victory.
