BRISTOL, TN – After two days of rain and lightning delays with some golf being played in between, the UVA Wise golf teams ended the King University Invitational on a high note Tuesday afternoon.
The men placed eleventh overall with a combined 283-305=588, with the 283 first round being one of the best rounds in program history, according to available records.
Piyachoate Naphapayarksiri led the way for the Highland Cavs with a 65-72=137 for three under par to finish tied for fifth.
Tzu-Wei Huang (71-76=147) tied for 42
nd, while
Jack England (74-77=151) tied for 56
th, and
Reilly Yoders's 73-80=153 had him tied for 58
th.
Trenton McMillen placed 64
th with a 82-80=162.
The women finished ninth with a 337-342=679.
Lilli Kate Barker (84-84) and
Julia Kessler (82-93) both tied for 31
st with 168 apiece.
Emma Zelaski (87-86=173) was 39
th, while
Abby Peterson was 41
st as she shot 82-92=174.
Olivia Baker (85-90=175) was one stroke behind and tied for 42
nd.
UP NEXT
The teams are off for two weeks before resuming play on Oct. 7-8. The men will be competing in the Bob Dribble Intercollegiate, hosted by Tusculum University, at the Graysburg Hills Golf Course in Chuckey, Tennessee. The women will participate in the Barton Intercollegiate at Cutter Creek Golf Club in Snow Hill, North Carolina.
