GREENVILLE, SC -- The UVA Wise men's golf team ended their season as they tied for eighth place at the 2026 SAC Men's Golf Championship with a final score of 924, highlighted by freshman
Jacob Leonard's tie for 19th with a 227 total at The Preserve at Verdae. This is the highest finish the program has had in the SAC Championship since joining the conference in 2019 and their highest tournament finish since finishing sixth in the Mountain East Conference Championship in 2018.
Jacob Leonard, a freshman, delivered a solid performance, finishing tied for 19th with a total score of 227 (+11). Leonard opened the tournament with an even-par 72 in the first round, followed by rounds of 77 (+5) and 78 (+6) in subsequent play.
Cruz Bongiovanni, also a freshman, consistently shot rounds of 77 (+5) across all three rounds, leading to a tie for 28th place with a total score of 231 (+15). Bongiovanni's steady play underscored his reliability throughout the tournament.
Reilly Yoder, a junior, matched Bongiovanni's tournament total, also tying for 28th at 231 (+15). Yoder's second round of 75 (+3) was his best, bookended by rounds of 78 (+6) in both the first and third rounds.
Piyachote Naphapayarksiri, a sophomore, improved his score each round, culminating in a third-round 76 (+4). His cumulative score of 235 (+19) earned him a tie for 40th place, showcasing his ability to finish strong.
Evan Loftis, a senior, faced challenges but completed the tournament with a total score of 256 (+40). Loftis' best round came on the first day with an 81 (+9), followed by higher scores in the second and third rounds.
