CHARLESTON, WV – The UVA Wise golf teams opened the fall portion of the 2024-25 season as they participated in the University of Charleston Invitation Monday and Tuesday.
The women's tournament was held at the Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston West Virginia, while the men's was held nearby at the Edgewood Country Club in Sissonville.
The women placed eleventh in the fifteen-team field in the two-round event with a combined score of 732. The Highland Cavaliers were led by
Olivia Baker, who tied for 41
st with an 88-86=174 outing.
Emma Zelaski made her UVA Wise debut as she tied at 51
st place with a score of 88-89=177, while
Lilli Kate Barker also made her UVA Wise debut with a tie for 61
st as she scored 91-91=182.
Julia Kessler rounded out the scoring for the Cavs as she went 93-106=199 to finish in 70
th place.
On the men's side the Cavs finished in thirteenth place out of seventeen teams in their three-round event with a 610 score. They were led by
Tzu-Wei Huang, who finished in 32
nd place with a score of 78-73-71=222.
Evan Sacbibit was close behind as he tied for 34
th with his 76-72-75=223 score.
Reilly Yoder tied for 56
th as he went 79-73-77=229 for the event, while
Tanner Devlin scored 82-78-79=239 to tie for 85
th place.
Ryley Forster tied at 95
th with a score of 81-82-82=245
UP NEXT
The teams will both compete in the King University Invitational on September 23 and 24. That event will be held at the Country Club of Bristol.
