SALISBURY, NC – The UVA Wise men's golf team placed thirteenth in the Richard Rendleman Invitational, held at the Country Club of Salisbury.
The team was originally scheduled to compete in Tusculum's Bob Dibble Intercollegiate, but with all the water issues in Greene County, Tennessee, following the remnants of Hurricane Helene, that tournament was cancelled.
UVA Wise placed thirteenth in the field with a 321-306-314=941 outing in the three-round par 71 event.
The Highland Cavaliers were led by
Tzu-Wei Huang, who placed 35
th as he shot 74-75-78=227.
Piyachote Naphapayarksiri tied for 57
th as he shot 84-76-75=235, while
Jack England was 62
nd with a 80-78-80=238 result.
Reilly Yoder was right behind England in 64
th as he went 83-77-81=241 for the tournament.
Tanner Devlin finished tied for 72
nd as he shot 84-84-86=254.
Evan Loftis and
Ryley Forster competed as independents, with Loftis (71
st) shooting 85-83-85=253 and Forster (74
th) going 82-88-85=255.
The team will next compete in the Atomic City Classic in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, on Oct. 21-22.
