NEWTON, N.C. - Cavalier women's cross country came away from the SAC Championship with a score of 318 and a 12th place finish.
Wingate took home the team title on the day with a score of 33. The Bulldogs winning score saw them finish 285 points clear of the Cavaliers.
It was once again freshman Lydia Slemp who paced the Highland Cavaliers. Slemp finished best among the UVA Wise competitors with a time of 23:11.42 that placed her 46th in the event. Not only was Slemp's time the best on the Cavs, it was a new school record for the 6K event.
Things continued to hold true to form for the Cavs as freshman Alexsis Porter followed close behind for UVA Wise, coming home in 23:55.09 with a 59th place result. Jayden Sisk rounded out the trio of freshman finishers for the Cavs with a time of 26:15.02 and an 80th place finish.
Catawba sophomore Madison Clay finished her run in 20:25.32 to earn individual first place honors in the SAC Championship.
Cavalier women's cross country is back in action for the NCAA Southeast Regional in Oakwood, Ga. on Nov. 4.
