WINGATE, NC -- The UVA Wise women's cross country team closed the 2025 season with a historic team and individual performance at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championships, hosted by Wingate University on Saturday.
The Cavaliers placed 19th out of 24 teams, matching the program's highest finish of the Division II era.
Junior
Lydia Slemp led UVA Wise with a 37th-place finish, running 23:41.96 to break the school record for 6K. Freshman
Sylvie Fracis continued her standout debut season, taking 51st in 23:57.12, marking a new personal best.
Both Slemp and Fracis surpassed the program's previous highest individual finish at the regional meet (68th), setting a new standard for the women's program in postseason competition.
Sophomore
Ashley Jackson recorded a lifetime best of 27:49.81 to finish 148th, followed closely by sophomore
Shay Cannon in 27:50.57 (149th). Junior
Jayden Sisk ran 30:00.35 (166th), and junior
Nicole Poston capped the lineup with a PR of 30:07.38 (168th).
