SALISBURY, N.C. - - The UVA Wise women's cross country team posted its highest finish in the South Atlantic Conference Championship with an eighth-place finish at the Salisbury Community Park. Wingate took the team title with a score of 34 outpacing second-place Anderson by 19 points.
Senior Kaley Sykes led UVA Wise runners by placing 54th in the event with a time of 27:04. Sophomore Isabella Mullins followed with a 61st place finish with a time of 27:43.5 with seniors Haley Sykes and Lexie Rhoton finishing 64th and 65th with times of 28:02.6 and 28:03.5 respectively.
Freshman Gracie Cress' time of 29:17.7 rounded out Cavalier runners in the field as she finished 79th in her first collegiate conference championship meet.
The team will be off until Nov. 19 when it competes in the NCAA Southeast Regional at Mcalpine Park in Charlotte, N.C.
