RICHMOND, Ky. – UVA Wise men's golf finished fourth at the Alice Lloyd Spring Invite this weekend hosted by Alice Lloyd College at the Battlefield Golf Course.

Shawnee State won the team title with a total score of 584 while Shawnee State's BJ Knox took the individual title, shooting eight under par in the tournament.

The Cavs were led by senior Bryce Varner who recorded his second consecutive top-10 finish, carding a score of 72 in both rounds to tie for seventh with a total score of 144. Varner made six birdies in the two-day event, three of which came on the front nine on day two.

Senior Alex Arnold secured a spot on the leaderboard at 13th after he shaved one stroke off his round one total of 74 for a round two score of 73. Arnold and Varner each made 24 pars while Arnold tallied three birdies. Senior Hunter Farley came in tied for 16th as he carded a two-day score of 150 after he fired off a 75 in each round. Farley totaled five birdies, including two on the second nine of the final round.

Sophomore Evan Blanton opened with an 83 before carding a 78 in round two to finish tied for 35th with a total score of 161. Blanton and Farley each made 20 pars over the 36-hole event. Senior Jacob Sowers rounded out the lineup tied for 41st with a two-day score of 163. Sowers birdied once on the back nine in round one and totaled 15 pars in the tournament.

Head coach Davis Absher's squad will compete next at the 2021 Mister Bee Intercollegiate Championship April 9-11 in Ravenswood, West Virginia.
