ABINGDON - - Behind senior Alex Arnold's runner up finish, the men's golf team at UVA Wise finished second at the Emory and Henry Invitational this weekend. Arnold shot a 150 over the 36-hole event to finish two strokes away from the individual crown. As a team, Evan Sturgill's crew posted a two-day score of 63, finishing three strokes behind Emory & Henry College.
A senior from Wytheville, Va., Arnold shot a 74 on day one of the tournament before shaving two strokes off his day one performance on day two to finish in second place.
Freshman Tanner Devlin was the biggest mover on day for the Cavaliers. Devilin opend the event with an 82 prior to shooting a 74 on the final day to place fourth with a score of 156. Jacob Sowers finished seventh after shooting a 79 in both rounds of the event while Evan Blanton shot a 172 to place 16th and Peyton Wilson came in 18th with a score of 176.
The event wraps up the fall portion of the season for UVA Wise.
