WISE - - The UVa-Wise men's golf team finished third in its season opening event with a team score of 614 at the Alice Lloyd Invitational hosted by the Prestonsburg Country Club. Hunter Farley finished tied for ninth to lead the Cavaliers as he shot a 146 following a career-best round of 68 on day one of the event.
The University of Pikeville took home the team trophy with a tally of 583 to finish 10 strokes better than the Rio Grande University (Ohio).
Alex Arnold finished tied for 13th with a score of 154, Bryce Varner tied for 15th with a score of 155, Evan Blanton shot a 159 to tie for 23rd and Jacob Sowers shot a 162 to finish in 29th to round out the Cavaliers in the event.
UVa-Wise will be back in action on Sept. 23 at the King University Invitational.
