TAZEWELL, Va. - - The men's golf team at UVa-Wise wrapped up the fall portion of its season with an 11th place finish at the State Farm Intercollegiate Golf Tournament this week. Coach Davis Absher's team shot a 949 over the three-round event; Lincoln Memorial University took home the team title with a score of 848.
Redshirt junior Alex Arnold was the highest finishing Cavalier in the event. The Wytheville, Va. product opened the tournament with a 78 before shooting a 74 in round two marking the lowest round carded by any UVa-Wise golfer. Arnold finished the tournament with a 76 to finish tied for 36th with a score of 228.
Hunter Farley came in 43rd by shooting 231 over the three rounds, freshman Evan Blanton's 240 placed him 57th, while Jacob Sowers tied for 59th with a score of 250 and Cole Stanley shot a 273 to finish in 64th place.
The team will return to play in the spring.
