Nick England is a rising Sophmore from Wise, Va, who plays golf for the University of Virginia's College at Wise. At this years Dye Intercollegiate Invitational the University at Virginia's College at Wise finished in 2nd place. The 6'3'' Freshman, Nick England, played in the event as an individual and shot a 78 on day two en route to a 165. Get to know Nick in this short questions/answer session. Cavaliers (CS): What led you to become an athlete at UVa-Wise?Nick England (NE): Probably Coach Kelly. He seemed like an awesome coach to play for.
CS: What do you love most about golf?
NE: I'm a competitor so I just love the competition. I really like winning.
CS: What is your major?
NE: I still have not decided yet.
CS: What songs do you like to listen to, to pump you up before a game?
NE: I don't really listen to any music. For golf you don't really need to get pumped up but rather really focused.
CS: What is your favorite movie?
NE: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
CS: What led to your decision to become a golfer?
NE: I've played golf since I could walk and I just always loved the game.
CS: What famous athlete do you look up to?
NE: Tom Brady because of how competitive he is. That guy hates losing.
CS: What is your favorite TV show?
NE: Sportscenter
CS: What are your plans after college?
NE: I'll know once I decide my major.
CS: What do you like to do on the weekends?
NE: I spend a lot of time working out. It's my second favorite thing to do besides golf.
CS: How do you feel about being an athlete at UVa-Wise?
NE: It's awesome to be able to represent a college like UVa-Wise.
CS: What have you learned while being in college?
NE: Balancing College and your sport is not easy.
CS: What are the major differences in high school sports and college sports?
NE: I would just say the players and competition is at a higher level.
CS: What is your favorite thing about UVa-Wise?
NE: I've really liked all my professors so far. They've been really down to earth and are willing to help.
CS: What is your favorite thing about Wise County?
NE: The church I attend.
CS: What are your career goals?
NE: I've kind of got an idea but once I pick my major I'll know for sure what career path I will take.
CS: What would people be surprised to learn about you?
NE: I am golfer that loves to lift weights.
CS: What is your favorite sports team?
NE: Pittsburgh Steelers
CS: What is your favorite sports moment?
NE: When Bubba Watson won the Masters from the trees in a playoff. I actually have a shirt that shows the shot he hit from the trees.
CS: What advice would you give to freshmen coming to UVa-Wise to participate in athletics?
NE: Be prepared to miss a lot of class.
