BRISTOL, TN – The UVA Wise batteries combined for six hits and eight strikeouts as the Highland Cavaliers swept King 7-0 and 1-0 at the King Softball Field Friday afternoon.

GAME ONE – UVA Wise 7, King 0
- UVA Wise's offense delivered 11 hits, including two doubles and a triple, while its pitching staff limited King to just four hits in the 7-0 shutout win.
- The scoring began in the third inning when
Taylor Clay and
Kaylynn Baker singled, followed by
Lindsey Polan's RBI single that brought Clay home.
Savannah Johnson added another run with a double, driving in Baker. By the end of the third inning, the Cavaliers led 2-0.

GAME TWO – UVA Wise 1, King 0
- UVA Wise outlasted the Tornado 1-0 in a defensive struggle in the second game. The Highland Cavaliers' lone run came in the seventh inning, while
Olivia Shockley pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits and striking out five.
- The first six innings remained scoreless, with both teams unable to capitalize on their opportunities. In the seventh inning,
Lindsey Polan walked and was replaced by pinch runner
Kylee Holt.
Taylor Noe then delivered a crucial double to right field, advancing Holt to third.
Savannah Johnson was hit by a pitch, loading the bases.
Kennedy Miller hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Holt to score the game's only run.
- The Tornado's final attempt in the bottom of the seventh was thwarted as their batters were unable to reach base, securing the 1-0 win for the Cavs.

Olivia Shockley delivered a commanding performance, pitching a complete game shutout while allowing only two hits across 7 innings. She faced 25 batters, striking out five and walking only one, maintaining a WHIP of 0.43. Shockley efficiently used 70 pitches, 46 of which were strikes, to secure her sixth win of the season. Her ability to induce 14 flyouts was instrumental in keeping King scoreless.

UP NEXT
The Cavs will host Lock Haven for a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. on the Bill Gatton Field. The teams met for the first time last season and split their two games. The Bald Eagles dropped a pair of games at Tusculum today, losing 1-0 in eight innings and 4-3 in the second game.
