ROCK HILL, SC – UVA Wise sophomore thrower Lexi Carter has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week, conference officials announced today. This is the first time she has earned the honor.

The St. Paul, Virginia, native delivered a dominant double victory in the King Invitational over the weekend, winning both the hammer throw (43.63m) and shot put (13.11m), with the hammer mark standing as a school record. She also threw for 23.15m in the discus event.

This is the first Field Athlete of the Week award for UVA Wise this season and the second for the women in program history.

The team will compete in the Blue and Gold Invitational this Saturday at Emory, Virginia.
