ASHEVILLE and HICKORY, NC – The UVA Wise track teams competed in multiple locations over the weekend as the bulk of the team were in Asheville for the UNC Asheville Bulldog Invitationals while two student-athletes were in Hickory competing in the Southside Power & Fitness Invitational.
Competing in Hickory was 
Braelynn Strouth and 
Avone Noel. Strouth competed in the Heptathlon where she placed seventh with 3,838 points. She set new personal records in the javelin throw (36.62m), 100 meter hurdles (16.56), 200 meter race (28.83), long jump (5.04m), and the 800 meter race (2:53.34). She also placed first in the javelin throw. Noel competed in the decathlon and finished sixth in the pole vault (3.43m) and eighth in the 110m hurdles (17.73) for the decathlon but did not complete all ten events.
Meanwhile in Asheville, the teams had very successful outings.
Some highlights on the women's side include 
Raegan Cox placing second in the high jump with a career-best 1.52 mark. 
Nia Rogers was fourth in the shot put with a 12.03 mark, and 
Mady Buchanan placed ninth in javelin with a throw of 27.61m.
Haley Faulkner had a big day as she placed 11th in the 400m (1:00.69), 14th in the 200m (26.39), and 17th in the long jump (4.90m), all personal bests.
On the men's side, 
Caleb Yeary continued to 
Caleb Yeary as he placed first in the 100m dash, narrowly beating out Western Carolina's Ethan Long by a nose, 10.505-10.508. He also placed fourth in the 200m with a personal best and school-record 21.02, provisionally qualifying him for the NCAA Division II National Meet.
Francis Roberts was fifth in the 400m event with a time of 49.84. 
Abel Dingus was 12th (18.26) and 
Landon Bishop 14th (20.50) in the 110m hurdles. Bishop also placed 14th in the 400m hurdles with a 1:10.97 time. 
Hunter Blevins placed tenth in the hammer throw (42.96m) and 15th in shot put (13.04m). 
Bobby Cline was 13th in the javelin with a throw of 42.48m.
