GAME ONE
- The Cavs had five hits while holding the Wasps to three.
- UVA Wise scored in the bottom of the first as
Taylor Clay scored from third on a
Lindsey Polan groundout. They added the second run in the next inning as
Abagail Mills was walked and then advanced to third on a single to right field by
Emma McCauley. She was then brought home via an
Adyson Gibson single through the right side.
- The game then became a defensive struggle as both teams only had three combined hits until the top of the seventh, when the Wasps attempted a comeback. With runners on the corners and one out, they scored on a sacrifice fly to cut the Cavalier lead in half. On the next pitch, the E&H batter hit a ball that deflected off the glove of Nolley and was grabbed by
Kaylynn Baker at third, who threw it to first for the game winning out.
- Gibson was 2-2 to lead the team, while Baker, Mills, and McCauley had a hit apiece. Gibson and Polan accounted for the Cavs' RBI.
- Nolley went the distance for her sixth win of the season as she allowed one run off of three hits while only throwing 64 total pitches.
GAME TWO
- Once again, the Cavs scored in the bottom of the first inning as Baker singled up the middle to score Gibson from third.
- The Wasps would score three in the second when, with one out, a passed ball on a strikeout allowed the Wasps to get a runner on first. Two more singles loaded the bases, and after getting the second out the next hitter blasted a triple off the left center wall to give the Wasps their first lead of the day. They added another run in the top of the fourth inning.
- The Cavs had a good scoring chance in the fourth inning when they had bases loaded with no outs, but the Wasps' defense came up strong and got three straight outs to end the threat.
- Emory & Henry then added their final run of the game in the top of the sixth inning. The Cavs had two runners on base in the bottom of the seventh, but were unable to score and the Wasps held on for the win.
- Polan had a good game as she was 3-4 from the field.
GETTING WISE
- For the day, Gibson hit .600 as she went 3-5 with a run and a RBI. Polan was 3-7 with a RBI, and Mills was 2-5 with a run.
