WISE – Coming off their 35-21 Homecoming win over Tusculum last Saturday, the UVA Wise football team will travel to Anderson, South Carolina, for their first-ever meeting with Anderson Saturday afternoon on the Trojans' home turf.

UVA Wise enters the game with a 1-4 overall record and a 1-3 record in the South Atlantic Conference. Anderson are 3-2 overall and 1-2 in SAC play. They are riding a two-game losing streak with losses at Mars Hill and at Emory & Henry.

GETTING WISE
- Jake Corkren is currently ranked third in the SAC in yards per game as he is 97-182-7 on the season with 1,095 yards (219.0 per game) and five touchdowns.
- Sophomore Daniel Thomas leads the SAC in rushing yards per game and is second in rushing touchdowns. He has 681 yards on 122 carries (5.6 yards a carry) and eight touchdowns. Corkren has 99 yards on 23 carries for two touchdowns, while Andon Rogers has 20 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown.
- DJ Powell leads the SAC in receiving yards a game with 90.2. He has 36 catches for 451 yards and a touchdown. Peyton McClanahan has 13 catches for 178 yards and two touchdowns, while Kahlil Jones has eight receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown.
- Brub Hines III leads the team in tackles with 37. Matt Strong has 32 tackles and Jalen Pickens has 25.
- As a team the Cavs have 115 first downs to 110 by their opponents, while they are out-rushing opponents by a 196.4-146.4 yards a game margin. Despite having more completions than the opposition, the Cavs have a 9.92-5.98 deficit in yards per catch.

ABOUT ANDERSON
- The Trojans are in their second full season of football and this will be the first time they have faced UVA Wise in Anderson, having won the meeting in Wise last season 20-13.
- They are outscoring their opponents by a 25.2-15.4 points a game margin, though that is skewed by the fact that four of their five games have been blowouts. They are slightly out-rushing and out-passing the opposition.
- Tyler Wesley has been the main quarterback this season, going 72-137-4 for 940 yards and eight touchdowns.
- Bryson James has 221 yards on 62 carries for 221 yards and two touchdowns. Wesley has rushed 56 times for 207 yards and three touchdowns. Zaidon Gunn has three touchdowns off of 16 carries for 123 yards.
- Jalen Warthen-Carr is the leading receiver with 192 yards on 13 catches with a TD. Zay Williams has nine receptions for 144 yards and Kenneth Brown has 6 catches for 126 yards and a touchdown..
- Carter Wit has 35 tackles and an interception, while Josiah Jeffery has 30 tackles and Jerrod Woods has 26.

UP NEXT
The Cavs will return home to host South Carolina Central Presbyterian next Saturday at 3 p.m. The game was originally scheduled to be against Limestone, but the closure of that school in May forced the staff to reschedule.
