HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter

- The Hawks moved ahead 7-0 when Tyler Adkins connected with Amir Alexander for a 53-yard touchdown at 12:43, followed by Riley Swanson's extra point.
- The Cavaliers' next drive reached the Hawks 39 with help from two pass interference penalties, but a sack pushed the drive back before Sapp punted. The Hawks then went 79 yards and scored on Adkins' 7-yard pass to Treshawn Blair at 5:14 to make it 14-0.
- After a Cavaliers punt, the Hawks drove from their 42 to the Wise 5 before the quarter ended with the Hawks ahead 14-0.

Second Quarter

- The Cavaliers answered with Beason touchdown passes to Thomas McCoy from 20 yards at 10:18 and 6 yards at 6:27, the second followed by Lawson's PAT to make it 21-13.
- The Highland Cavaliers defense helped keep the Hawks off the board after that, with Kenneth Long, Davion Jackson and Jalin Edwards each recording sacks during the quarter.
- Starting at their own 12 with 1:04 left, the Cavaliers drove 88 yards in 57 seconds, highlighted by Beason's 42-yard completion to Purdue and capped by Beason's 2-yard touchdown pass to McCoy with seven seconds left; Lawson's PAT made it 21-20.

Third Quarter
- The Cavaliers forced a three-and-out to start the quarter, then moved 55 yards behind Daniel Thomas' 28-yard run and Beason's 10-yard rush before Lawson missed a 37-yard field goal at 10:29.
- Jalin Edwards forced a fumble on Khamani Barnes, and Jalen Pickens recovered at the Hawks 32, but the short-field chance ended when Makai Dorn intercepted Beason at the goal line for a touchback.
- The Hawks followed with a 13-play, 65-yard drive, converting twice on third down before Riley Swanson made a 33-yard field goal at :11 to account for the quarter's only points and leave the Hawks ahead 24-20 entering the fourth.

Fourth Quarter
- Joshua Graham intercepted a Hawks pass at the Hawks 38 at 11:28, giving the Cavaliers a short field in a 24-20 game.

- The Hawks pinned the Cavs at their own 3 with a 55-yard punt, and the Cavaliers later turned it over on downs at the Wise 38 with 2:00 left.
- The Hawks reached the Wise 11 after a fourth-down pass interference penalty, then kneeled out the remaining time to finish a 24-20 win.
