MULTIPLE CAREER BESTS HEADLINE CAVS OUTING AT VMI INVITATIONAL

Lexington, VA – The UVA Wise women's track and field team was back in action this week as the Cavs traveled to Virginia Military Institute for the VMI Invitational.

The Cavs were led by a strong performance from junior Nia Rogers. Rogers' best performance came in the shot put. On her first throw of the day, Rogers threw a 11.56m (37-11.25) to set a new collegiate personal best. That throw secured her a place in the final where she would finish No. 8 overall on the day. Her mark currently has her ranked in the top-ten of the South Atlantic Conference at ninth place. Rogers also set a new personal best in the weight throw with a toss of 12.18m (39-11.5). Her throw would earn her 17th place.

In other notable performances, freshman Destiny Ansley-Cureton continued her string of personal bests as she reached new bests in the 60m and the triple jump. Ansley-Cureton has continued to improve her personal bests in each meet of her short career with the Cavs. On the first day of competition, she sprinted to a time of 8.27 in the 60m dash. She would return on the second day to jump 9.82m (32-2.75) in the triple jump.

The Highland Cavaliers will enjoy a week off of competition and return to action on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Centre College Invitational.
