COBRAS TAKE TWO FROM CAVS

HARTSVILLE, S.C. — The Cobras used a 32-hit day to swipe the twin bill against the Cavaliers on Saturday, March 11.

GAME 1

Sarah Barrett led the Cavaliers (4-15) with a homer to jump-start the doubleheader followed by a McKenna Falwell double to center. Julia Fedewa recovered in the circle for the Cobras (15-11) after she forced three flyouts soon after.

Coker would find four hits in the bottom of the inning and drive in three runs after a leadoff hit-by-pitch to Brooklynn Stueness.

Coker would settle in soon after, accumulating ten hits in the next six innings. Kara Long would pace the Cavaliers with a double to left field in the top of the fifth to score another, but the Cobras would capitalize on the 7-2 victory.

Falwell would finish with two strikeouts in 3 and 2/3 innings pitched, while Hannah Richardson would snag two strikeouts of her own in relief.

GAME 2
In the first inning, a sacrifice fly from Kate Oswell brought in the first run for the Cobras.

UVA Wise would find their way on the board in the fifth inning as a Coker error would send Abagail Mills home. Sarah Barrett would smack an RBI double to bring in Bayleigh Allison before another Cobra error would put the score at 10-3.

In the sixth, UVA Wise would push another run home off of a Cobra miscue, but Taylor Hessian would finish off the third out with a strikeout — her sixth of the day. In the bottom of the inning, a four-hit Cobra inning would finalize a 12-4 triumph over the Cavaliers.

Up next, UVA Wise heads back home to face Carson-Newman at Cavalier Field on Tuesday, March 14 with a 1 PM start.
