Storyline – vs. EMORY & HENRY

Ben Thompson and his Emory & Henry team have snagged plenty of Ws in their D-II Independent season — most recently demolishing the Appalachian Bible School on Jan. 11 by over 80 points, and taking a win over the Apprentice School by 20. Since their defeat by UVA Wise in December, the Wasps have won five of their last seven games. 

As a team, the Wasps are shooting a 55.6 percent from the field, and are hitting just below 40 percent in shots from three-point range.

Cade Looney: averages 13.9 ppg, scored a season and career-high 21 points against Pikeville on Nov. 23, 2021. Scored 15 points in Emory & Henry's last meetup with UVA Wise

Gabe Brown: averages 13.3 ppg, scored a season-high 29 points against Brevard on Dec. 3, 2021. Scored 18 points in Emory & Henry's last meetup with UVA Wise
 

ABOUT UVA WISE

Head Coach Blake Mellinger and the Cavaliers are still having a tough year in the South Atlantic Conference as they took a xx-xx loss to the Newberry Wolves on Saturday, Jan. 22.  The Cavaliers shot a decent 44.2 percent from the field, but only connected on six of 18 shots from three-point range. Positively, the Cavaliers nearly snagged a perfect outing from the charity stripe - only missing one of 14 buckets. 

The Cavaliers' only win this season came from Emory & Henry in an overtime battle. and they plan to take their second win of the season against them once again on January 25.
