ROCK HILL, SC – The UVA Wise men's basketball team is back on familiar ground with a very familiar foe as they face Catawba in the South Atlantic Conference tournament Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.
How familiar is Catawba? The two teams met five days ago in Wise in the regular season finale.
The Cavs enter the tournament as a six-seed, with Catawba the three-seed.

The game will be broadcast locally on WLSD-FM 92.5, with
Chris Davis and
Corey Sanchez on the call. Those broadcasts will begin 15 minutes prior to tip-off.
GETTING WISE
- The team is entering the tournament having one of the most successful seasons in program history as they are the third team to have 20 or more wins.
- Statistically, the team ranks third in the SAC in points at 82.2 points a game, just behind Lenoir-Rhyne and Anderson. They are third in field goal percentage (48.3), and third in rebounding (39.6 rpg). They also are among the leaders in steals, assists, and blocks. They are holding their opponents to 42.5 percent shooting from the floor and 32.9 percent from behind the arc. The Cavs are outscoring the opposition 82.2-75.1 points a game.
- The Cavs recently did the All-SAC "Quadfecta" as they placed a player on all four teams.
Evan Ramsey earned First Team honors after leading the team in rebounds with 234 (third in the SAC) and blocks with 45 (fourth in the SAC). He also is fourth in the SAC in field goal percentage (58.3) and free throw percentage (80.2).

Yoro Diallo earned Second Team honors after leading the team in scoring (14.5 ppg) and rebounds per game with 8.0 rpg (second in the SAC). He also is eighth in the SAC in assists (93).
- Kam Robers earned a spot on the Third Team after leading the team in total points (423) and he is second on the team in points per game (14.1).

Cy Hardy was named to the SAC All-Freshman team after averaging 7.4 points and 2.0 rebounds a game.

Patrick Shelley, who is the newest member of the school's 1,000 point club after passing that mark last Saturday, leads the team in steals with 45 and averages 10.3 points a game.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Jordan Simpson leads the team in scoring with 12.8 points a game, with Ibra Athle averaging 11.9 points a game and Justin Banks scoring 10.8 points a game.
- Athle leads the team in rebounds with 11.9 a game, followed by Banks' 5.4 rpg average,
- A pair of Daniels, Carson and Chase, lead the team in assists with 131 and 100.

The winner of Thursday's game will advance to the SAC Tournament semifinals and will face the winner of the Lenoir-Rhyne/Emory & Henry game Friday at 7:30 p.m.
