HICKORY, N.C. – Four members of the UVA Wise men's and women's cross country team participated in the 2021 South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship this past weekend at the Irwin Belk Track.
Haley Sykes, Kaley Sykes, Jacob Thomas and Chase Templeton competed in the two-day event for UVA Wise.
In the women's 10000-meter race, Kaley Sykes finished 14th with a time of 44:22.19. Haley Sykes placed 32nd in the women's 1500 meters completing the race in 5:53.86.
In the men's 1500 meter, Thomas finished 28th with a time of 5:26.91 while Templeton followed at 29th marking a time of 5:34.12.
Queens (N.C.) won both the men's and women's championship title with a total men's team score of 182 and a total women's team score of 228.
