About UVa-Wise
- Coach Salyer's team visits Wingate Friday and Coker Saturday with a 1-22 overall mark, 0-18 in the SAC, as the Cavs seek their first conference win of the season this weekend.
- Four Cavaliers have accumulated over 100 kills this year, led by redshirt senior Ciara Kain who leads the Cavs with 184 to date. Sophomores Matelyn Gibson (128) and Kelsey Green (127) follow while junior Brooke Abbott has recorded 106 so far this season.
- Abbott also leads UVa-Wise with 37 total blocks with sophomore Abigail Byington registering 21 blocks as the duo sit atop the category for the Cavs. Kain has also posted 15 blocks while junior Madelyn Lawrence has notched 14 blocks this year.
- Senior Morgan Milligan leads UVa-Wise in both digs (320) and service aces (22) this season. Milligan has also added 194 assists to her stat line while freshman Zoe Avery has totaled a team-high 235 assists.
- Coach Salyer's team will return home after Saturday's match at Coker for their final two games of the regular season next weekend against Newberry and Anderson (S.C.).
Notes on Wingate
- Head coach Shelton Collier will host UVa-Wise Friday night as the Bulldogs enter into the contest with a 24-1 overall record and a 17-1 SAC mark. The Bulldogs are undefeated at home this season with their single road loss at Carson-Newman last month.
- Junior Sophie Schaff leads Wingate with 239 kills so far this year, averaging 3.1 per set, and hitting a .292 clip. Schaff also sits atop the blocking category for Wingate with 95 total blocks to date. Five more Bulldogs have cracked 100 kills this season with four posting an attack percentage of .230 or better.
- Senior Rachel Alles (458) and sophomore Shannon Kasprak (442) lead the Bulldogs in assists as the duo combine for 900 assists this campaign. Senior Treslyn Ortiz has registered a team-high 42 service aces this season while also recording a team-high 404 digs.
- Wingate will host Tusculum Saturday afternoon before playing their final two regular season matches at Mars Hill and Lenoir-Rhyne next weekend.
Notes on Coker
- Head coach Travis Nead's team currently hold a 6-17 overall record with a 3-15 mark in conference play. The Cobras are 4-8 at home this season as they look to snap a four-match losing streak this weekend with a Friday night match against Tusculum before facing the Cavs Saturday.
- Sophomore Emily Everton leads the Cobras this season with 235 kills and 179 digs to date. Everton has also totaled 31 blocks this season while the team is led in the category by freshman Chelsey Blume who has 81 total blocks.
- Junior Ashley Carson's 446 assists leads Coker, averaging 5.58 per match, and added 24 service aces and 178 digs. Freshman Camryn Tate boasts a team-high 257 digs while four other Cobras have each accumulated over 100 digs to date.
- Coker will wrap up the regular season next weekend on the road at Lenoir-Rhyne Friday night and Mars Hill Saturday afternoon.
