The University of Virginia's College at Wise Athletics

The volleyball program was started in 1969 and ran until 1977, when a number of reasons led to the program being put on hiatus. It was brought back in 1991 with the first season of competition being 1992. Since then the Highland Cavaliers have competed in the NAIA in the Tennessee-Virginia Athletic Conference/Appalachian Athletic Conference (1992-2009) and Mid-South Conference (2010-13). In 2012 the school began the transition to the NCAA Division II, with the first year of NCAA competition being in 2013. The Cavs then joined the Mountain East Conference from 2013-18 and joined the South Atlantic Conference in 2019.
