UVa-Wise Football Adds 10 More Signees

WISE - - Head Coach Dewey Lusk and his staff announced the signing of 10 more recruits for the 2014 season.  Javonte' Latney, Zach Mannon, Jaylen Hill, Tucker Price, Connor Patton, Jordan Corvin, Dorian Chandler-Hall, Sam Krizner, Jawaun Ferrell and Floyd Jones all signed to play collegiately at UVa-Wise.  The recent batch of signees gives the Cavaliers 45 newcomers for the 2014 fall season.

Latney was a first-team all-area, all-district, and all-region tailback for coach Eric Ludden at Massaponax High School.  The 5-11, 230 pound Latney is the son of John and Patricia Latney.

Mannon was a first-team all-district and second-team all-state tight end for coach Terry Martin at Lee High School where he posted a 4.0 grade point average. He is the son of Mike and Becky Mannon.

Hill was a starter at defensive back for coach Burt Torrence at VHSL Division III State Champion Northside High School.  A two-sport athlete, Hill is the son of Bradi Schumaker.

Price was a first-team all-conference and all-region punter for coach Will Thomas at Central Senior High School in Kenbridge, Virginia. The son of Donald and Sharron Price, he registered a 3.8 grade point average while at Central Senior.

6-4, 255 pound Patton was a first-team all-district offensive lineman for coach Chris Moore at Rural Retreat High School. Patton posted a 4.035 grade point average at Rural Retreat, he is the son of Judy Patton.

Corvin was an all-district tailback and linebacker for coach Chris Moore at Rural Retreat. He is the son of Brian and Jocinda Corvin.

A three-sport athlete at T.C. Williams High School, Chandler-Hall was an outside linebacker for coach Avery Williams. He is the son of Darryl Green and Stephanie Chandler.

Krizner was a defensive back and running back at Northside High School for coach Burt Torrence. He is the son of Larry and Phyllis

Ferrell played defensive line for coach Mark Duda at Lackwanna Junior College, a year ago. The 6-0, 240 pound Ferrell was an all-district player at Woodside High School and started in the 2012 VSCHA All-Star Game. He is the son of Waverly Ferrell and Catina Hatcher.

Jones was a wide receiver and defensive back for coach Mike Smith at Hampton High School.  A Leadership Award honoree, he is the son of Floyd Jones and Tanika Dardy.

The Cavaliers will open the 2014 season on Sept. 6 at Urbana University.
