WISE -- The Highland Cavalier football program is pleased to announce 23 additions to its family. The signees slated to join the program for 2026-27 includes 16 defensive players (4 – DL, 5 – LB, 6 – DB) and eight offensive players (2 – OL, 2 – WR, 2 – QB, 1 – TE, 1 – RB). The recruiting class combined to average a 3.52 GPA throughout their prep careers. The class also includes both key leadership traits and successful pedigrees as 19 were former team captains, 18 were selected as All-Region performers and 9 members of the class were named All-State.
Geographically, the class continues to build roots within the footprint of the Appalachian Mountains. The class is composed of six Virginians, five prospects from Georgia, four from North Carolina, three Tennesseans, two from each Alabama and South Carolina and one from Kentucky.
There are six Southwest Virginia players in the class that include Michael Reece - Lebanon High School (QB), Toby Baker - Lebanon High School (WR), Carlos Anderson - Union High School (DL), Keegan Light - Gate City High School (LB), Jaalan Deel - Ridgeview High School (RB) and Kolter Scanlon - Ridgeview High School (DL).

Gary Bass commented about the class, "I am very excited to announce this 2026 recruiting class. We believe we identified and targeted young men that fit what we are working to build. They are talented on the football field, but they are even more importantly good young men, that do well in the classroom and conduct themselves off the field in a manner you can be proud of. People of Southwest Virginia should notice six names in this class that are young men from the community that have demonstrated a very high level of football and we are pleased to keep them in the area. We are very excited about the future of Highland Cavalier football."
Coach Bass and his staff worked tirelessly to put this group together and coupled with 24 January enrollees, they will help to shape the future of UVA Wise Football.
