WISE – Four UVA Wise football players (
Kenneth Long,
Bryson Myers,
William Rudeseal, and
Matt Strong) have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Football Team for the 2025 season. CSC officials released the team Tuesday afternoon.
This is the second year that Long and Rudeseal have earned a spot on the team.
Long was one of the top defensive players on the team in 2025. The junior from Huntsville, Alabama, had 39 tackles, forced two fumbles, and had a sack, broken up pass, and quarterback hurry.
Rudeseal, a redshirt senior from Toccoa, Georgia, started every game this season on the offensive line.
Strong led the defense in tackles this season. The redshirt senior from Roanoke, Virginia, led the team in tackles with 57 and he also had two interceptions, two breakups, and two fumble recoveries.
Myers, a sophomore from Huntsville, Alabama, had 20 tackles on the season.
The Academic All-District® Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court/field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Nominees must be at least a sophomore with at a 3.5 grade point average or higher. They must also have played in a specific number of games/matches or started a specific number of games/matches. Some sports have extra criteria, like track and field nominees needing to win or place highly in the regional rankings. The number of nominees are limited within each respective sport and the at-large team (which comprises golf, lacrosse, beach volleyball, field hockey, and several other sports).
