WISE - - Saturday UVa-Wise and Concord University will meet for the fifth time in school history in Athens, W.Va.  The visiting Cavaliers will be looking to win back-to-back games for the first time since 2011 while the Mountain Lions still have their sights set on a conference title.  A week ago, UVa-Wise secured its first ever Mountain East Conference victory with an 18-10 home win over West Virginia State while Concord posted a 9-3 overtime victory over University of Charleston to move up to second place in the MEC standings.

Having not played since 2007, the two schools enter the game at different points.  Concord secured its first NCAA Division II victory in 1995 and is currently in the midst of five consecutive winning seasons.  UVa-Wise is in the second-year of the three-year transistion to NCAA DII and secured its first win a week ago.

The Mountain Lions strength is without question its defense.  Entering Saturday, Concord is allowing 11.9 points per game and 262.5 yards of total offense a contest. Coach Justin Garin's pass defense ranks first in the MEC at 144 passing yard a game allowed.  Individually, the Mountaion Lions are led by Jake Lilly who ranks second in the MEC with 84 tackles and stands just 43 stops from breaking the career record for tackles at Concord.  In the secondary, Dave Marion ranks third in the MEC in interceptions with four while having also posted 48 tackles.

Concord also possesses one of the top rushing attacks in the league.  Thus far, the Mountain Lions have gained 1,392 yards for an average of 174 yards a game.  Cal Jones leads the attack having rushed for 739 yards and six touchdowns.  Jones' teammate Ben Nester has averaged 5.5 yards a carry and rushed for three touchdowns.

UVa-Wise reciever James Long will likely break the single-season receiving record for yardage in the Cavalier history on Saturday.  Long stands just 13 yards from Jason Lovett's 2007 total of 1,056 yards.  Long can also break the single-season all-purpose yardage record before the season ends as well.  Currently, Ra'Shad Morgan holds the record with 1,961 in 2006.  Thus far, Long has tallied 1,713 all-purpose yards.
