WISE – The UVA Wise softball team lost a pair of extra-inning South Atlantic Conference games to Anderson Saturday afternoon on Bill Gatton Field. The Cavs came from behind in both games to force extra innings but Anderson used late runs to take the series win.

GAME ONE – Anderson 8, UVA Wise 5 – 8 innings
- Despite a strong start with four runs in the second inning, the Cavaliers were unable to maintain their lead as the Trojans scored three decisive runs in the eighth inning.
- Anderson opened the scoring in the first inning with a double to left center by Carson Hobbs, bringing in Kara Davis for an early 1-0 lead.
- In the second inning, UVA Wise responded decisively.
Madison Anglin doubled and later scored on a throwing error.
Taylor Noe reached base during the error and advanced to third.
Savannah Johnson's single set the stage for
Taylor Clay's double, driving in two runs.
Lindsey Polan added another run with a walk that brought Clay home. By the end of the inning, the Cavaliers took the lead, 4–1.
- Anderson narrowed the gap in the third inning when Lauren Brakovec hit a two-run homer to center field. The inning concluded with UVA Wise still ahead, 4–3.
- The fifth inning saw UVA Wise extend its lead.
Kylee Holt, who pinch ran, scored on a single by Noe. The inning concluded with the Cavaliers leading 5–3.
- In the sixth inning, Anderson leveled the score with two runs, including a two-RBI single by Hobbs. The score was tied 5–5 at the end of the inning.
- Anderson took control in the eighth inning. They scored three unearned runs, highlighted by a two-RBI double by Kadence Barrick. The Cavaliers were unable to respond in the bottom half, resulting in a final score of Anderson 8, UVA Wise 5.

Chloe Murphy pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing eight hits and five earned runs while striking out three and walking two.
Bayleigh Allison contributed 2 innings without allowing an earned run, despite three unearned runs crossing the plate, and struck out two batters.
Olivia Shockley made a brief appearance, pitching 1/3 of an inning, recording one walk, and striking out one in a scoreless outing. Murphy faced 29 batters, throwing 117 pitches with 71 strikes, and Allison faced 12 batters, throwing 50 pitches with 30 strikes.

Taylor Noe led the team with two RBIs, contributing significantly to the scoring effort.
Taylor Clay added two hits and two RBIs, including a double, showcasing her impact at the plate.
Lindsey Polan drew two walks and recorded an RBI, effectively reaching base and driving in a run.

GAME TWO – Anderson 9, UVA Wise 7 – 9 innings
- Despite a 12-hit effort, including a triple by
Madison Anglin, UVA Wise could not overcome Anderson's 17-hit performance.
- UVA Wise started strongly in the first inning with
Adyson Gibson singling to left center and scoring after a series of plays, culminating in
Savannah Johnson's RBI single.
Kaylynn Baker also crossed the plate on a single by
Madison Anglin, giving the Highland Cavaliers a 2-0 lead.
- In the third inning, Baker scored again for the Cavs on Johnson's single, maintaining a narrow lead. The Trojans responded with a run, bringing the score to 3-1 in favor of the Cavaliers after the third inning.
- The fourth inning saw Anderson tie the game with two runs, including a run scored by Shelby Bandt on a fielder's choice and another on a double by Lauren Brakovec.
- In the sixth inning, Anderson took the lead with two runs, but the Cavs quickly responded. Baker tripled down the right field line, scoring
Kennedy Miller, and later scored on a single by
Lindsey Polan, tying the game again. Score: 5-5 after the sixth inning.
- Both teams scored twice in the eighth inning. Anderson's Kara Davis scored on a single, while UVA Wise stayed competitive with Miller's RBI single and Baker's RBI double, keeping the score even at 7-7.
- In the ninth inning, the Trojans broke the tie with two runs, including a decisive RBI double by Chloe Maness. The Cavaliers couldn't respond in the bottom half, resulting in a final score of 9-7 in favor of Anderson.

Olivia Shockley pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing 11 hits and 5 earned runs while striking out 2 and walking 5 batters. She threw a total of 123 pitches, with 81 of them being strikes, and faced 33 batters.
Angelina Branch entered for 3 2/3 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 earned runs without recording any strikeouts. Branch threw 56 pitches, with 32 strikes, and faced 16 batters.
- Baker led the charge with four hits, including a double and a triple, and scored three runs while driving in two. Miller added to the offense with two runs scored and contributed one RBI. Gibson collected two hits, scored once, and successfully stole a base. Johnson drove in two runs with her two hits, solidifying the team's offensive efforts.
