Moreno and Davis Named to Preseason All-SAC Women's Lacrosse Team; Brown, Hiller and Paterson Named Players to Watch

Team Picked Fifth in SAC Preseason Coaches Poll

ROCK HILL, SC – The UVA Wise lacrosse team has been picked to finish fifth in the South Atlantic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, conference officials announced today. Additionally, seniors Logen Davis and Taryn Moreno have been named to the Preseason All-SAC team and Issie Brown, Noley Hiller, and Kaylea Paterson made the Players to Watch list.

The team received 83 points in the poll, placing them behind Wingate, Anderson, Lenoir-Rhyne, and Newberry.

Moreno, returns for her senior campaign after being named First-Team All-SAC last season. The Cumming, Georgia, native caused 39 turnovers and picked up 50 ground balls this season. Her 39 caused turnovers led the team and were fourth in the SAC. They are also the third-most in a season in program history. She currently ranks seventh all-time at UVA Wise in that category. The 50 ground balls also led the team and were third in the SAC. She ranks ninth all-time in school history in total ground balls and her 50 this season tie for fifth-most in a season.

Davis, from Sherwood Park, Alberta, led the team in goals (33), assists (30), points (63), and shots (69) last season as well as picking up 14 ground balls. Davis ranked fourth in the SAC in assists, ninth in points, and twenty-first in goals. She ranks third in program history in career assists and eighth in points. She had six hat tricks in goals and four in assists last year. Davis was named the SAC Player of the Week for the week of April 8. 

Brown had 16 goals and six assists last season. The senior from Adelaide, South Australia, also won 53 draws, picked up 29 ground balls and caused 19 turnovers in 2025.

Hiller led the team in goals (35) and was fourth in assists (10) last year. The Greenville, South Carolina product also picked up eleven ground balls and had seven caused turnovers and won seven draws.

Paterson, from Maple Ridge, British Columbia, scored 25 goals and had 25 assists last season. She also won 15 draws, had 13 ground balls, and caused 12 turnovers.

The team opens the season with three straight home games as they host former Mountain East Conference rival Charleston on Feb. 7 before opening SAC play against local rival Emory & Henry on Feb. 11. They then host Converse on the 13th before closing out February on the road at Lee (Feb. 20) and at nationally-ranked Alabama-Huntsville (Feb. 22).

They will play 17 games this season, with eight being at home on the Beaty-Richmond Field. Key home games include Wingate on April 11 and Anderson on April 22.
