LMU Takes SAC Series From the Cavs

HARROGATE, TN – UVA Wise fell on the road at LMU as the Railsplitters captured both wins of the doubleheader Wednesday afternoon.

GAME ONE
- The Cavs had baserunners in the first and second innings but were unable to score. LMU got on the board in the third after an error led to a RBI single by the Railsplitters.
- LMU scored again in the fifth and added an insurance run in the sixth. They then held on for the 3-0 win.
- The Railsplitters outhit the Cavs 6-2 for the game with the two hits coming from Mataya Ausmus, who went 2-3 at the plate.
- Bayleigh Allison took the complete game loss despite only allowing two earned runs off of six hits while fanning four LMU hitters.

GAME TWO
- LMU scored four runs in the first inning and followed those with runs in the second and fourth to take a 6-0 lead.
- The Cavs attempted a comeback with two outs in the fifth as Mallory McKnight laced a double down the left field line that scored Taylor Clay and Abagail Mills. They stranded two runners and had another runner stranded in the sixth as LMU held on for the 6-2 win.
- Clay went 1-3 and McKnight was 1-4 with two RBI to lead the team, while Adyson Gibson, Emma McCauley and Mills each tallying a hit.

UP NEXT
The team will host Catawba in a Senior Day South Atlantic Conference doubleheader Saturday at 2 p.m. on the Bill Gatton Softball Field. They will honor seniors Jillian Jones, Sophie Kreese, Mallory McKnight, Emma McCauley, Abagail Mills and Madison Milne between the games.
