EMORY, VA – The UVA Wise lacrosse team made themselves at home in their first-ever trip to Emory as they torched the Food City Complex nets early and often as they defeated Emory & Henry 22-3 in a South Atlantic Conference game Wednesday afternoon.
This is the second season of competition for the Wasps, who fell to the Cavs last season in Wise 18-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cavs scored 37 seconds in to the game and rolled out to a 8-0 lead after one quarter, highlighted by a first quarter hat trick from
Noley Hiller.
- They extended the lead to 10-0 and started the running clock before the Wasps took the ensuing draw and worked their offense to grab their first goal with 7:25 remaining in the half. They won the draw again and after both teams had a shot they found the back of the cage again with 4:44 left in the half. The Cavs would then score three quick goals in succession as Hiller would get two more goals followed by a goal from
Issie Brown just before the half.
- The running clock was in effect to start the second half and despite that the Cavs added five goals in the third and four more in the fourth to take the 22-2 lead. The Wasps would add a third goal to their tally as the clock expired in the fourth quarter.
- Two of the Wasp goals came from Justyce Jones and the third was from Logan Pekala.
GETTING WISE
- Hiller led the Cavs with a career-high five goals and two assists for seven points.
Logen Davis and
Grace Golatt both had hat tricks with three goals and two assists each.
Leslie Clay also had a hat trick for the game.

Chloe Huston and Golatt both won four draws each, while
Taylor Thompson led the team with four ground balls. Golatt added three ground balls to her other stats for the day, and
Alexis Hilstrom also picked up three ground balls.
- The Cavs outshot the Wasps 26-9, with 25 of the 26 being on goal. They forced the Wasps into 26 turnovers and picked up 26 ground balls. The Cavs also outdrew the Wasps 16-12.
- The 22 goals tied the school record for most goals in a game as the team has now scored 22 on five occasions, most recently against Coker in 2023. Their 36 total points tied that Coker game for second-most in program history, trailing by one the 37 they had against Notre Dame College in 2019.
