HARTSVILLE, SC – UVA Wise and Coker battled to a pair of one run games as the teams split the South Atlantic Conference season series Tuesday afternoon.

GAME ONE
- The Cavs scored first as
Adyson Gibson and
Mallory McKnight were walked to open the game and then were driven home by a double to right field by
Emma McCauley. Coker evened up the game in the bottom of the first after getting runners on second and third who were then brought in by a Cobra double.
- The score stood until the top of the third when Gibson reached by a single and was then moved to second on a groundout by
Taylor Clay. Two batters later, McKnight hit the 1-0 pitch down the left field line and cleared the fence to give the Cavs the 4-2 lead.
- In the fourth,
Savannah Johnson added another run as she drilled the 0-1 pitch over the left field fence.
- Coker scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth via a double to cut the lead to 5-4. The score stood until the bottom of the seventh when the Cobras had a two-out single followed by an error that allowed two runs to score and win the game for Coker.
- McCauley was 2-4 to lead the team in game one. McKnight was 1-2 with the two RBI on the home run.
GAME TWO
- Neither team scored until the top of the third when McKnight was walked and then driven in by a
Bayleigh Allison double to left field.
- The Cavalier defense stiffened as the Cobras stranded a runner in each inning down the stretch as the Cavs held on for the 1-0 win in game two.
- Allison led the Cavs at the plate as she was 2-3 with a RBI. In the circle,
Savannah Paul improved to 3-0 on the year as she threw a complete game shutout. She allowed only five hits and notched four strikeouts.
GETTING WISE
- Allison also led the team for the series with her 2-3 game two performance.

Madison Milne was 1-3, and
Emma McCauley was 2-7 with a double and two RBI for the day.
UP NEXT
The Cavs return home to host league-leading Wingate Saturday at noon on the Bill Gatton Softball Field. The Bulldogs enter the game with a 26-16 overall and 13-3 SAC record.
