Lacrosse Falls Twice in Florida Trip; Davis Passes 100 Goal Mark

WEST PALM BEACH, FL -- The UVA Wise lacrosse team wrapped up their Spirng Break games in Florida Wednesday afternoon when they took on Palm Beach Atlantic.

They lost to sixth-ranked Lynn 21-2 Monday afternoon and fell 21-12 to Palm Beach Atlantic.

GAME ONE
- Lynn, who are ranked sixth in the latest IWLCA poll, exploded for 21 consecutive goals while holding the Cavs to eight shots.
- The Cavs' goals came from Caitlyn Schultz, who picked up a saved free position shot by Leslie Clay and put it in with 3:57 remaining; and from Logen Davis on a free position shot with 50 seconds left.

GAME TWO
- After PBA scored two quick goals, the Cavs rallied for three goals of their own. The Sailfish then scored two goals to take the 4-3 lead, but Issie Brown would tie the game up at 4-4 before PBA scored late in the quarter to lead 5-4 after one period.
- The Sailfish outscored UVA Wise 5-2 in the second quarter, with both goals coming from Davis, who had a hat trick in the first half.
- PBA outscored the Cavs 5-4 in the third quarter and slowly began to pull away. A pair of goals by Abby Stoffelen and scores from Brown and Chloe Huston cut the lead to 15-10 heading into the final frame.
- Noley Hiller scored to cut the lead to four to open the fourth quarter, but the Sailfish scored five straight goals over the next five minutes, including three by Rachel Delate, to put the game out of reach. Kaylea Paterson scored for UVA Wise and a late Sailfish goal made the final score 21-12.
- Delate would lead PBA in the game with seven total goals and six assists.
The Cavs were led by Logen Davis, who had three goals and surpassed the 100 goal mark for her career. Stoffelen, Hiller, and Brown, who all had two goals and an assist apiece. Paterson had a goal and two assists. Brown led the team with three ground balls and Alexis Hilstrom won four draws.

UP NEXT
The Cavs will enjoy a bit of Spring Break in Florida before heading home to step back into South Atlantic Conference play when they face Lenoir-Rhyne next Wednesday on the Beaty-Richmond Field. First draw is set for 3 p.m. They will then host Limestone Saturday at 1 p.m.
