WISE – Newberry took the early lead, but the Highland Cavaliers battled back to tie it in the third quarter. The Wolves then used a late surge to claim the 14-12 South Atlantic Conference win over the UVA Wise lacrosse team Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wolves took a 5-0 lead, with all goals coming in the first quarter.
Logen Davis scored for the Cavs to open the second quarter, followed a few minutes later by
Kaylea Paterson. The teams traded goals for the rest of the period, with Newberry leading 8-6 at the half.
- Golatt and Brown scored quickly in the third period to tie the game at 8-8. The Wolves would re-take the lead less than a minute later and scored a pair of goals down the stretch to extend the lead. Brown scored during that run as well, making the score 11-9 in favor of the Wolves after three periods.
- Schultz scored twice and Golatt added a fourth goal in the final stanza, but three Newberry goals would seal the 14-12 win for the Wolves.
- Emma Jobs had four goals for Newberry, while Trysten Burns added in three and Amelia Hawkes scored a pair of goals and assisted three more. Jobs also led all players as she won six draws.
