Grace Golatt had the hat trick along with two assists to lead the UVA Wise lacrosse team to the 11-7 season-opening win over Lee University Friday afternoon on the Beaty-Richmond Field at Carl Smith Stadium.
The Highland Cavaliers improve to 6-5 in their season openers with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cavs struck first, with Kaylea Patterson scoring the first goal of the season with 12:41 remaining in the quarter. She was joined by Golatt 37 seconds later. Lee tied the match up with a pair of goals before
Issie Brown scored with 3:02 left in the first to put the Cavs ahead.
- Brown's goal sparked an 8-0 run by the Cavs, who held Lee scoreless in the second quarter and for almost thirteen minutes of the third. The Flames would score a goal late in the third quarter and two to open the fourth.

Noley Hiller scored with 4:27 left in the game to put the Cavs ahead 11-5. The Flames would add on two late goals as the Cavs tightened up defensively and controlled the clock in the fourth to seal the victory.
- Lee was led by Hannah Vecsey's three goals, and goalie Savannah Weisman had 15 saves.

Grace Golatt led the way for the Cavs with her hat trick and two assists. It marked the tenth game of her career where she has scored three or more goals and her five points pushed her over the 100 point mark for her career. She also won two draws, caused three turnovers and picked up three ground balls.

Noley Hiller and Kaylea Patterson added in two goals apiece, while

Logen Davis,
Leslie Clay, and
Caitlyn Schultz each netted a goal.
- Davis joins Golatt with two assists, while Patterson and Schultz each aided on a goal.

Addie Donalson each had three ground balls, and Brown also won three draws.
- Donalson had seven saves in cage for the Cavs.
