DANVILLE, KY – The UVA Wise men's and women's track and field teams closed out the indoor regular season by making a strong statement at the Centre Multi Invitational, posting multiple school records, top-10 finishes, and personal bests in a dominant performance.
The Cavaliers rewrote the record books with standout performances across multiple events.
Caleb Yeary sprinted his way to school records in both the 60m (6.80) and 200m (22.24), securing first-place finishes in both races.
Jonah Adams made his mark in distance events, setting program bests in the 800m (2:04.56) and the mile (4:28.48).
On the women's side,
Alexsis Porter etched her name in history with a 10:55.39 finish in the 3000m, while the 4x400m relay team of
Madison Outland,
Kylie Brodt,
Braelynn Strouth, and
Haley Faulkner set a new school standard with a time of 4:25.44.
Field events were just as impressive, with
Hunter Garrett clearing 3.75m (12-3.5) in the pole vault, and
Bobby Cline launching a 15.27m (50-1.25) weight throw for new program bests.
Braelynn Strouth shined in the pentathlon, racking up 2,753 points, while
Avone Noel put together a 3,610-point heptathlon to cap the Cavaliers' record-breaking weekend.
The Cavs consistently found themselves at the top of the leaderboard. Yeary dominated the 60m and 200m, taking first place in both, while
Peyton Honeycutt finished second in the 60m and sixth in the 200m.
Francis Roberts had a strong showing, placing third in both the 200m and 400m.
In the field events,
Mady Buchanan soared to a second-place finish in the pole vault,
Bennett Estremera claimed second in the high jump, and
Bobby Cline finished second in the weight throw.
Braelynn Strouth also secured second in the pentathlon, while
Raegan Cox picked up a fourth-place finish in the triple jump.
The Cavaliers posted a long list of personal records, showing continued improvement across all disciplines. Yeary, Honeycutt, and Roberts all clocked PRs in their sprint events, while Adams, Porter, and
Dorian Almer set new bests in the distance races. The throws squad also impressed, with
Ben Herron, Katie Gross, and
Bobby Cline setting new marks in the shot put and weight throw.
