SALEM, VA -- The UVA Wise men's and women's track and field teams delivered another strong weekend of competition at the Bast-Cregger Multi Invitational, hosted by Roanoke College. Across the two-day meet, the Cavaliers set multiple school records, earned podium finishes, and recorded a long list of personal bests as the indoor season continues to build momentum.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
The Cavalier men turned in several record-breaking efforts, led by freshman
Dylan Colander, who set a new school record in the 1000 meters with a time of 2:38.97, finishing third overall. In the field events, junior
Bobby Cline broke the school record in the weight throw with a mark of 15.78m (51-9.25), placing third, while senior
Hunter Blevins established a new program mark in the shot put at 13.67m (44-10.25), also finishing third.
The Cavaliers also earned a podium finish in the 4x400-meter relay, where
Peyton Honeycutt,
Henry McFarlin,
Luke Collie, and
Chad Douglas combined for a third-place time of 3:36.86.
Additional top-five performances included David Williams in the pole vault (4th, 4.20m),
Landon Steele in the weight throw (5th, 15.04m), and
Peyton Honeycutt, who advanced through multiple rounds of the 60 meters and placed fifth in the final (7.07).
Numerous Cavaliers posted personal bests, including
Jonah Adams (1000m),
Patton Shortt (5000m),
Caleb Ghammashi (5000m),
Chad Douglas (mile), and
Brayden Houchins (200m), highlighting continued progress across the distance and sprint groups.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
The UVA Wise women matched the men's momentum with several record-breaking and podium performances of their own. Senior
Haley Faulkner set a new school record in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.79, while junior
Lydia Slemp added another program record in the 1000 meters, finishing in 3:14.03 for fifth place.
In the field events, sophomore
Jordyn Taylor cleared 3.28m (10-11.75) to place third in the pole vault, and senior
Nia Rogers earned a runner-up finish in the shot put (11.92m). Senior
Destiny Ansley-Cureton placed third in the long jump (4.85m), while
Madison Sutherland added a fifth-place finish in the same event.
Sophomore
Kylie Brodt secured a fourth-place finish in the triple jump, and the Cavaliers saw strong multi-event performances from
Braelynn Strouth (4th, pentathlon) and
Kaylee Cooper (5th, pentathlon).
On the track,
Grace Adams placed fifth in the 500 meters (1:39.72) and later added a personal best in the 800 meters, while
Sylvie Fracis notched a fifth-place finish in the 1000 meters and a personal best in the mile.
Shay Cannon,
Jayda Hilton, and
Jayden Sisk also recorded personal bests in middle-distance events.
In the sprints,
Olivia McClintock advanced through multiple rounds of the 60 meters, ultimately placing seventh in the final.

The Cavaliers return to action February 13–14 at the Centre Multi Invitational, hosted by Centre College, as UVA Wise continues its push through the heart of the indoor season.
