WISE – The UVA Wise lacrosse team continued their hot start to the season as they improved to 3-0 with the 19-5 win over Southern Wesleyan on a very very rainy Saturday afternoon.
The win ties for the best start in program history with the 2017 team, who also opened the year 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Highland Cavaliers scored three quick goals to open the game, including a pair by
Abby Stoffelen. SWU would then score four goals of their own to take the 4-3 lead into the second quarter.
- From that point on, it was pretty much all UVA Wise as they scored 16 straight goals, including eleven in the second quarter alone.
- The second quarter stretch had a consecutive-goals hat trick by Nolley Hiller, and braces from
Grace Golatt and
Abby Schrafft, including Schrafft's first career goal.

Logen Davis opened the third quarter with her third goal of the game, and Schrafft scored her third goal of the day with 3:44 left in the quarter, giving the freshman her first career hat trick. The Warriors then scored their fifth goal of the game with 1:56 remaining in the period.
- The game was then called after the end of the third quarter as 75% of the game had been completed and the weather was getting worse.
- Ella McCowen and Mack Moreau led the Warriors with two goals apiece.
GETTING WISE

Noley Hiller,
Abby Schrafft, and
Logen Davis led the team with three goals apiece.
- Davis also had four assists for a total of seven points. Her seven points are the most since
Caitlyn Schultz's seven points vs. Limestone on March 4, 2023. Hiller dished out a pair of assists as well.
- Stoffelen,
Leslie Clay, and Gollat each had a brace.

Taylor Thompson and
Taryn Moreno each led the team with four ground balls apiece. Thompson also caused three turnovers.
- Golatt won five draws to lead all players.
Chloe Huston grabbed four, while Thompson and
Issie Brown each had three.
UP NEXT
The team will hit the road for the first time this season as they play two games in South Carolina next week. They will play at Converse on Thursday at 4 p.m. before making the short trip from there down I-85 to play at Anderson Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
