ROCK HILL, SC – UVA Wise sophomore guard
Caroline Mullins has been named the WePlayed Sports South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, conference officials announced today.
The Jasper, Georgia, native dominated the field at the Regional Crossover at USC Beaufort as she averaged 30.0 points and 13.5 rebounds for the weekend as the team went 2-0 with wins over Georgia Southwestern State and USC Beaufort.
Against GSW, she was 8-12 from the field and 1-2 from three-point range and 5-8 from the free throw line. She also had 12 rebounds.
In the win over USCB she exploded for a career high 38 points and pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds. She was 13-20 from the field and 12-15 from the charity stripe, also career-highs. She was the leading scorer in the Regional Crossover.
This is the first time in her collegiate career that Mullins as earned SAC Player of the Week honors and is the first since
Sable Burnside earned them in January, 2025.
The honor also comes during an emotional time for Mullins and the team as former teammate
Katlin Burger passed away on November 8. Burger, who would have turned 23 last Friday, was buried Saturday afternoon and the team was unable to attend due to their games, the weekend's games were dedicated to her.
Mullins and the rest of the Highland Cavaliers will host Concord in the 2025-26 home opener this Saturday at 2 p.m. on the Quillen Court in the David J. Prior Convocation Center. The Mountain Lions are currently 1-1 after falling to Seton Hill and defeating Lock Haven over the weekend in the MEC-PSAC Challenge. They will host local rival Bluefield State in the Battle of Mercer County Wednesday evening before making the trip to Wise this weekend.
