JEFFERSON CITY, TN -- UVA Wise picked up a score via a 62-yard touchdown run, but the host Carson-Newman Eagles rode 443 yards of total offense to the 35-14 South Atlantic Conference win Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UVA Wise had the ball first, but the Eagles gained possession when a pass was intercepted by Rich Mellien at the Carson-Newman 33. Â Carson-Newman capitalized on the turnover with a 12-play, 67-yard drive, culminating in a four-yard touchdown run by Zane Whitson, followed by a successful extra point, giving them a 7-0 lead. On their next possession, Carson-Newman extended their lead with a 29-yard touchdown pass to Don Bradley, ending the period with a 14-0 advantage.
- The Eagles scored to open the second quarter as Cam Ferguson scored on a 32-yard pass from Whitson to make the score 21-0. The teams then traded drives throughout the rest of the quarter, with neither team scoring and the score standing at 21-0 at the half.
- Carson-Newman scored twice in the third quarter to make the score at 35-0. UVA Wise found a spark late in the period when
Andon Rogers broke through Carson-Newman's defense for a 62-yard touchdown run with 13 seconds remaining.
Noah Perrin added the extra point, putting UVA Wise on the scoreboard at 35-7.
- Defense was the name of the game in the fourth quarter before the Cavs capitalized on a sustained drive starting from their own 21-yard line, leading to a one-yard rushing touchdown by
McCalan Beason at 5:29. The drive was highlighted by a critical 27-yard pass from Beason to
Peyton McClanahan, advancing the team to the Eagles' 15-yard line. The Eagles then ran out the clock on their next drive to make the final score 35-14.

Jalen Pickens led the defense with 11 total tackles and added 0.5 sacks to his performance.
- On offense, Beason completed 14 of 26 passes for 120 yards and rushed 11 times for 2 yards, scoring a touchdown.
- Rogers contributed significantly with 68 rushing yards on three attempts and a touchdown.

Simeon John Jr. also made his presence felt with eight tackles from the defensive line.
