BUCKHANNON, WV – For the second time in as many days, the UVA Wise women's tennis team defeated an opponent by a 6-1 margin, with this instance being the Davis & Elkins Senators.
"The ladies started out the season great," said Coach
Alex Hunt. "We played another very well coached team today and came away with another 6-1 win. I'm proud of them!"
The Cavs swept the doubles flight for the match point.
Constanca Azinhaga and
Christina Korakopoulou won 6-4 at no. 1,
Antonella Campodonico and
Lucy Cunliffe took flight two 7-5, and
Kinsey Knox and
Abiela Wang captured the third flight 6-2.
The lone win by the Senators came at the first flight as Fabienne Lahn won by retirement.
Korakopoulou defeated Erin Laubscher 6-3, 4-6, 10-3 at flight two, and Campodonico also had a three set third flight match win over Eloise Hutton 4-6, 6-4, 10-8. Cunliffe took the fourth flight with the 6-2, 6-3 win over Karen Saucedo; while Knox won over Lilly Wentzler 6-0, 6-3.

The team will compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Regional in Sumter, South Carolina, September 27-29.
