SALEM, WV -- UVA Wise women's tennis had a very successful weekend in West Virginia, first defeating West Virginia Wesleyan 5-2 on Friday, followed by a commanding 7-0 victory over Davis and Elkins on Saturday, and concluding with a 6-1 win against Salem on Sunday.

In the match against West Virginia Wesleyan, the Cavaliers secured the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. Aimilia Pantou and Kenzy Abdelaal triumphed 6-1 over Renata Pozzobon and Daria Godlewska at No. 1 doubles, while Kira Ertman and Ida Bengtsson claimed a 6-2 victory at No. 3 over Viola Hirzberger and Emilie Bergmann. The only loss came at No. 2 doubles, where Yuko Sakurai and Emily Marshall defeated Andreea Onitoiu and Yaryna Muzyka 6-1.

Entering singles with a 1-0 advantage, the Cavaliers notched wins at Nos. 1, 2, 5, and 6. Pantou overcame Pozzobon 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1, Abdelaal edged Godlewska 6-7(2), 6-1, 10-3 at No. 2, Juliana Bastidas won 7-6(6), 3-6, 10-3 at No. 5, and Muzyka defeated Sarah Gartner 7-5, 6-1 at No. 6. West Virginia Wesleyan managed singles victories at No. 3 and No. 4, with Sakurai beating Onitoiu 6-4, 6-0, and Marshall edging Kira Ertman 6-2, 4-6, 10-6. Ultimately, the Cavaliers prevailed 5-2.

The Cavaliers followed up with an impressive 7-0 sweep against Davis and Elkins. They swept all three doubles courts to earn the doubles point: Pantou and Abdelaal won 6-3 at No. 1, Onitoiu and Lino prevailed 6-1 at No. 2, and Ertman and Bengtsson finished with a 6-0 victory at No. 3.

In singles, Pantou defeated Chloe Vu 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1, Abdelaal battled past Saumya Chatterjee 6-0, 5-7, 11-9 at No. 2, and Onitoiu rallied past Matild Sutherland 6-7(5), 7-5, 10-3 at No. 3. Ertman triumphed 6-1, 6-1 over Lilly Wentzler at No. 4, Bastidas took down Emiliana Golac 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5, and Muzyka closed out the match with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win against Maddie Frazier at No. 6.

Finally, in their match against Salem, the Cavaliers continued their momentum, winning 6-1. They earned the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2. Pantou and Abdelaal triumphed 6-2 against Ekaterina Korsakova and Galia Mezouar at No. 1, while Bengtsson and Ertman won 6-3 over Aishwarya Kailaje and Salome Molina at No. 2. The match at No. 3 doubles between Bastidas/Lino and Natalia Sanchez/Clauida Sedano remained unfinished.

In singles, Pantou defeated Kailaje 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1, Bastidas beat Korsakova 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3, and Muzyka overcame Molina 6-1, 3-6, 10-2 at No. 4. Bengtsson won 6-0, 6-1 against Sanchez at No. 5, and Lino bested Sedano 8-1 at No. 6. Salem's lone point came from Galia Mezouar, who defeated Ertman 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 singles, but the Cavaliers still secured a 6-1 victory.
